Surfing at the surf spot of La Grande Plage gives an unique view on beautiful Biarritz. Bay number # in the Bask Country needs a bit more swell than exposed beaches but can handle a lot. The bay gives shelter from wind and the south side is still surfable on decent swells. High tide is not the best moment but on bigger swells it can be an option. It’s rarely really classic but long walls to train your moves are on offer, or a good smash if the sand is rather into fast and hollow. This is a city break so parking is not a walk in the park, it is crowded and there is a swimming zone in summer. © Christina Antje Friedrich
