Mimizan is one of the bigger villages in Les Landes but it’s a bit lost in the woods, so it’s only buzzing in summer. Local Vincent Duvignac didn’t have to fight the crowds and made it to European Champ. Other local and bodyboarder Nicolas Capdeville did even better with 3 world titles. So there should be some waves? Yes if the banks are there. Vincent and Nicolas surf it on bigger swells but only big banks hold them and the surf is more fun with less current on smaller swells. Mimizan gives access to a long stretch of beach with a rivermouth that lately never has good waves nearby. But there is almost always a close to a carpark bank to be found.
