Besides Lacanau all surfing towns in the Gironde are pretty small with a camping full of surfers and a village with some bars, restaurants and surf shops. There busy in summer but very quiet to dead in other seasons. Carcans is like the little brother of Lacanau – there’s a road close to the coast between the two – with possibly equally good or even better waves if there’s a good bank. Rather rippable than barreling but everything is possible in the Gironde at the right tide on the right bank, plinko online.
