If the whole Gironde coast is oversizing, this is the spot to check. The waves roll in only on high tide but they hit the shore hard, heavy and hollow. The fast shorebreak is rather a bodyboarder’s challenge but it is surfable if you’ve got what it takes to tame the temperemental waves. If the biggest swells of the year arrive on a big tide, there are two more spots behind the corner, inside the rivermouth. Howling onshore is offshore there but surf’s up only a couple of times a year. Watch out not to end up with the current in Bordeaux though! © www.bariksurfshop.com
