All along the coast the sea is snacking from the dunes. The series of big winter storms in 2013-14 did speed up the erosion and the entire Gironde department is strongly influenced by the march of the ocean. The beach of L’Amelie in particular and the surf is changing all the time. Sometimes it works for some months and then it’s off for maybe longer. If it’s on it’s rather fast and hollow, but it is smaller than further south – and bigger than up north – so it can be an easier alternative for intermediate surfers. On or off?
