Carcavelos was one of the first breaks to be surfed in Portugal and due to its proximity to the center of Lisbon, is usually very crowded. Fairly consistent surf throughout the tide and works with a wide variety of conditions. The predominant N/NE wind blows offshore here, making it a good option when the surf is too big and the wind too hard at the Ericeira/Peniche coastline.
